Chinese New year

We have been learning about and celebrating Chinese New year. The children have been learning where the country of China is on our map and that this year is the year of the Dragon and how each year is represented by a different animal. The children have made their own Dragon masks. They have also learnt how the Chinese clean their houses to get rid of the bad and welcome in the good. How red and gold are their lucky colours and what food they eat. The children have been re-enacting this in our role play Chinese restaurant. They have also been learning how the Chinese write and speak differently to us and we have been looking how numbers 1 to 10 are written. Happy Chinese new year everyone!
